<p>Mumbai: In a historic announcement from the Port of Marseilles in France, <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/maharashtra">Maharashtra</a>’s Cultural Affairs Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/ashish-shelar">Ashish Shelar</a> announced that the first-ever Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Rajya Prerna Geet Award will be conferred upon the inspirational song ‘Anadi Me, Anant Me…’ penned by revolutionary freedom fighter and Hindutva icon Swantantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.</p><p>Similar to the Maharashtra Bhushan and other prestigious honours conferred by the Maharashtra government, the cultural affairs department will annually recognise an outstanding ‘prerna geet’ (inspirational song) with the ‘Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Rajya Prerna Geet Award. </p><p>This esteemed recognition will include a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with a commemorative memento, he said.</p>.<p>"Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was not only a valiant warrior but also an eminent scholar of Sanskrit and a prolific writer. He authored the renowned ‘Budhbhushana’ in Sanskrit and penned literary works such as ‘Nayikabhed’, ‘Nakhshikh’ and ‘Saatsatak’ in the Braj language. As a tribute to his literary brilliance and enduring legacy, the Maharashtra government will, starting this year, honour an inspirational song with this prestigious award,” said Shelar. </p><p>“Life’s journey, from birth to death, is filled with challenges. And in moments of adversity, poetry serves as a source of strength, uplifting the spirit and inspiring resilience. Recognizing the profound impact of such inspirational verses, the Maharashtra government has decided to honour exceptional motivational songs with this award in the memory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who himself endured immense hardships in his relentless struggle for Swarajya,” the minister said. </p><p>During his journey from Paris to London by train, Veer Savarkar was arrested by the British government on charges of treason. </p><p>It was decided that instead of being tried in England, he would be sent to India. Anticipating the inhuman torture that awaited him, Savarkar found solace and strength in poetry. It was in that defining moment that the powerful lines of his composition ‘Anadi Me… Anant Me…’ echoed in his heart, rekindling his self-confidence and reinforcing his unwavering commitment to India’s freedom struggle.</p><p>Describing ‘Anadi Me… Anant Me..’ as one of Swatantryaveer Savarkar’s most profound, inspiring and invigorating compositions, Shelar emphasised that the song embodies an immense sense of patriotism and that very soon, the song will be honoured ceremoniously. </p>
